About Bright Yellow Lines
Bright Yellow Lines is a new organization built to provide safe, reliable, equitable transportation to Southern Nevada students. We are launching a pilot program in August 2023, with an aggressive growth strategy to serve more schools over the next five years. We will transform Nevada’s school transportation landscape and empower thousands of families to access schools of choice. Currently, less than 1% of students in public charter schools in Clark County schools have access to school bus transportation. By 2027, we will transport at least 10% of Clark County’s public charter school students to school each day.
This Role
Safety is our top priority, and equity is our driving force. Bus Drivers will perform our most important work– driving children safely, and on time, to school every day. These leaders’ key responsibilities include the following:
Driving safely and attentively on each route
Arriving on time to complete all pre-drive tasks, depart the lot on time, and arrive to bus stops on schedule
Checks mechanical condition, gas, oil, other fluids, and tires, and inspects safety equipment of assigned bus before leaving on route
Submits daily transportation reports and accurate records needed for compliance reporting
Performing thorough pre-checks and post-checks after each route
Establishing and maintaining a safe, supportive, orderly bus culture
Conducting required emergency evacuation drills and practices emergency procedures with bus riders
Participating fully in all training required to remain apprised of bus safety regulations and driver best practices, including an annual Nevada Department of Education training
Maintaining eligibility to drive students in Nevada (e..g, driving record, drug testing, etc.)
Performing other duties as assigned*
*For drivers who elect to work a full-time, salaried schedule, “other duties as assigned” will include various non-driving tasks. On average, a two-route driver schedule is about 20 hours of work, so an additional 15 hours will be scheduled to complete other supporting tasks.
